Early registration (before August 20, 2026) is possible for persons whose Visa D (and only this residence permit) expires on or before August 21, 2026.
The earliest possible date for early registration is the day on which the admission period for the Winter Semester 2026/27 begins at your university:
After registering for the course, you must complete your university enrollment within two weeks (information can be found on the website of your university’s admissions or student affairs office).
Late registration (after September 3, 2026) is only possible if you received your Visa D or your admission letter (the date on the admission letter is decisive) on or after August 30, 2026 (or on or after August 27, 2026, for admission letters issued by TU Wien).
For registrations after September 3, 2026, no place can be guaranteed. Places can only be assigned if spots remain available, and only in the course levels where vacancies still exist.
Note: Initial contact by students must take place no later than 7 days after the visa becomes valid or after the date the admission letter was issued.
If you received your Visa D or your admission letter on or after August 30, 2026, please proceed as follows:
If you belong to group f (see the VWU website), please send us your admission letter, passport (first page with personal information), and Visa D at: germanforvienna@zib.training
You will then receive information on whether any remaining places are available and, if so, how to register for them. In the case of late registration, university enrollment must be completed immediately, but no later October 30, 2026.
If places remain available, late applicants may be admitted up until shortly before October 30, 2026 (= the end of the university admission period for the Winter Semester 2026/27).
