Registration for new students

Information about online pre-registration


PLEASE NOTE: Pre-registration is only possible if you only need the supplementary exam in German and no other subjects.


Online pre-registration is possible during the following periods:

  • Wednesday, 10 December 2025 - Sunday, 14 December 2025
  • Thursday, 8 January 2026 - Monday, 19 January 2026


Within 5 working days, you will get an appointment for your in-person registration and payment, which will take place between 22 Jan 2026 and 04 Feb 2026. You will also take a placement test on that day. More information will be sent to you by email.

Do you want to register for a German course at ZIB Training? 

Here you can find all the steps - simply explained:



1. fill out the registration form.

Enter all your personal details correctly in the form below.


2. upload required documents.

Without these documents, we cannot register you for the course.


3. we check your documents.

You will receive an email with further information.


4. come to ZIB Training.

You will take the placement test and receive all course information.

Please come to Gudrunstraße 11, 1st floor, 1100 Vienna. 


5. pay for your course.

Payment is only possible on-site. You can pay with

  • VISA / V PAY,
  • mastercard,
  • Bank card (maestro),
  • Apple Pay,
  • Google Pay,
  • or in cash (no 500 EURO bills)
    • .

You will receive an invoice by email after registration.


6. COMPLETE YOUR ADMISSION TO THE UNIVERSITY.

Use the registration confirmation from ZIB Training to enroll at your university.
There, you must pay the ÖH fee and you will receive your student ID number (Matrikelnummer).

Please choose the course times that suit you best! We try to accommodate as many requests as possible.

Early and Late Registration

Summer semester 2026


Early registration (before 22 Jan) is possible for people:

  • whose Visa D (only this type, not Visa C or other visas) expires on or before 26 Jan 2026.
  • who have or had an au pair or student visa for Austria, and this visa expires on or before 26 Jan 2026.
  • who received a letter from the consular section of the Austrian Embassy (usually in Tehran) stating that the Austrian immigration authority has approved the residence permit ("dass betreffend Ihre Aufenthaltsbewilligung die positive Verständigung der österreichischen Inlandsbehörde eingelangt ist"). These people have only six months from the date of this letter to collect their permit. If these six months end on or before 26 Jan 2026, they can also register early.


The earliest date for early registration is the day when your university opens registration for the summer semester 2026:

  • University of Vienna: 07 Jan 2026
  • TU Wien (Technical University): 07 Jan 2026
  • Vienna University of Economics and Business: 07 Jan 2026
  • University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU): 07 Jan 2026
  • Medical University of Vienna: 07 Jan 2026
  • University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna: 26 Jan 2026 (→ early registration not possible)


Late registration (after 04 Feb) is possible for students who receive their Visa D (only this type, not Visa C or other visas) or university admission letter on or after 30 Jan 2026 (on or after 27 Jan 2026 for admission letters from TU Wien). The date on the visa or the date of issue on the admission letter counts.
